Hi, I’m Greg.
In 2006, after more than 30 years riding all sorts
of Japanese motorcycles from competitive motocross and cross country
enduro racing to daily road bike commuting, I purchased my first Ducati.
Still being young at heart, but also being from “the old school” I fell immediately in love with the new-old look and the nostalgia of the Ducati Sport-Classic range and what they represented.
In
the early days after the release of the Ducati Sport-Classic’s there
were very few aftermarket components available, and, as a machinery and
equipment manufacturer and design consultant by occupation, I very
quickly worked out that if I wanted something different for my bike I
would have to do it myself.
As I said, I love the look, the feel,
and the sound of these bikes but they are a mass produced bike designed
for economical production and to meet the increasingly stringent noise
and pollution laws.
These bikes can be made to look, feel, handle, and perform far better than standard with out the need for major surgery.
I
almost hate to admit it but my design career started off on the old
T-square pen and paper drawing board but thankfully evolved through two
dimensional CADD Computer Aided Design/Drafting software to the latest
3D Parametric Solid modelling design software.
This new breed of
software now interfaces directly with FEA Finite Element Analysis,
gas/liquid flow modelling, and other high end design
verification/proving software.
The data from this design process is then downloaded direct to computer
driven laser and water cutting machines, CNC Computer Numeric
Controlled machining centres, and CNC press and bending machines.
All
Wasp products are prototyped and put through rigorous field testing
and/or ‘rolling road’ dynamometer tuning and refining before being
deemed fit for production and distribution.
Our design Philosophy
All
Wasp products are designed to integrate seamlessly with existing
general ergonomics and will always be supplied complete for
installation without the need for modification to any existing parts
of the motorcycle or any of the components removed.
If a product
does not improve the feel, safety, performance, and look of the bike,
and, if it isn’t good enough for me – you won’t find it here.
Greg Brown.
